Flyers Struggle in Second Quarter, Principia Pulls Away

Flyers compete without Jamison White and Devin Houston after suspensions following an incident in the previous game versus Belleville West.

HIGHLAND — The Principia Panthers secured an 88-54 victory over the East St. Louis Flyers Saturday at the Highland Optimist Shootout, improving their season record to 12-1.

The game began with a close first quarter, as Principia edged ahead 19-18. In the second quarter, the Flyers were limited to just five points, allowing Principia to extend their lead to 41-23 by halftime.

Principia maintained control in the third quarter, holding a 65-44 advantage heading into the final period. The Panthers outpaced the Flyers 23-10 in the fourth quarter to close out the game.

East St. Louis competed without Jamison White , who was suspended following a scrum in Friday’s game against Belleville West.

Seiko Cisse led Principia with 25 points, followed by Quentin Coleman’s 22 points. East St. Louis was led by Phillip Jones, who scored 23 points, and Alex Johnson with 19 points.
