Former Army Officer Tom Haine To Be Keynote Speaker At Veterans Day Observance In Wood River

Madison County's top prosecutor shares remarks recognizing service and sacrifice during the annual Veterans Day celebration.

Tom Haine.WOOD RIVER — Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Haine will be the featured speaker at the Wood River Veterans Day celebration at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025, at the East Alton-Wood River Community High School gymnasium.

Haine, a former active-duty United States Army officer, served for four years primarily as a Judge Advocate General's Corps prosecutor and command legal adviser. The event will honor veterans for their service and sacrifice.

“I’m incredibly honored that I was invited to speak at this ceremony,” Haine said. “My hope is that my remarks help honor the service, sacrifice, and continued contribution of all veterans.

"I encourage all Americans to join in honoring our nation’s heroes on Veterans Day — whether it’s attending a ceremony such as this, visiting a memorial, enjoying a parade, supporting a veteran-focused organization, shaking the hand of a veteran, or simply observing a moment of silence.”

The event will be held at East Alton-Wood River Community High School, located at 777 N. Wood River Ave. in Wood River.
