Giannoulias Unveils Renovated East St. Louis DMV as Illinois Expands One-Stop-Shop Network

The upgraded facility at 1468 State St. is Illinois’ 27th One-Stop-Shop DMV and offers licensing, REAL ID, title, registration and driving test services under one roof.

EAST ST. LOUIS - Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias today unveiled a newly renovated, state-of-the-art DMV facility in East St. Louis, designed to provide faster service, greater efficiency and a more convenient customer experience.

Located at 1468 State St., Suite 200-300, the upgraded East St. Louis DMV is the 27th One-Stop-Shop DMV in Illinois and the second in the Metro East region. Under the One-Stop-Shop model, cross-trained employees can complete multiple transactions at a single counter, reducing wait times and allowing customers to complete more services in one visit.

The facility is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and offers a full range of services, including driver’s license applications and renewals, REAL ID applications, title and registration services, driving tests and license plate sticker renewals – all under one roof.

“The renovation of the East St. Louis DMV is another step forward in our effort to modernize government and make it easier for Illinoisans to access the services they need,” Giannoulias said. “By giving our employees the tools to serve customers more efficiently, we’re making DMV visits faster, more convenient and more customer-focused.”

“This renovated facility is a welcome investment in East St. Louis and the entire Metro East region,” said State Senator Christopher Belt (57th District - East St. Louis). “The One-Stop-Shop model brings convenience and efficiency to the DMV experience, while the modernized facility creates a welcoming space for residents. I’m proud to see this investment in our community and look forward to seeing residents take advantage of the reimagined East St. Louis DMV.”

“The new East St. Louis DMV is a great example of what can happen when we invest in our communities and bring state services closer to the people who rely on them,” said State Representative Kevin Schmidt (114th District - Cahokia Heights). “This modern facility gives residents greater convenience and access to a wide range of services in one location. I’m excited to see this new chapter for the East St. Louis DMV and the people it serves.”

The East St. Louis DMV temporarily closed at noon on August 7 for renovations, with services provided during the closure at the Jackie Joyner Kersee Foundation at 2051 Lynch Ave.

The renovated facility reopened Monday, August 17, at 10 a.m. and is now serving customers at its permanent location.
