Godfrey Man Faces DUI, Fleeing Police, Weapon Possession, Other Charges In Jersey County

JERSEYVILLE – A Godfrey man faces multiple charges after allegedly driving under the influence in Jerseyville and attempting to flee from police with a loaded handgun and drugs inside the vehicle.

Coulton E. Faulstich, 22, of Godfrey, was charged on Jan. 15, 2026 with the following offenses:

  1. Unlawful possession of methamphetamine (Class 3 felony)

  2. Aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon (Class 4 felony)

  3. Aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer (Class 4 felony)

    Driving while under the influence of alcohol (Class A misdemeanor)

  5. Driving on a revoked license (Class A misdemeanor)

Faulstich allegedly drove a red 1984 Datsun vehicle on South State Street at East County Road in Jerseyville while under the influence of alcohol on Jan. 3, 2026. After being given a visual or audible signal by a police officer to stop his vehicle, he reportedly failed to stop and attempted to elude the officer at over 21 miles per hour above the legal speed limit.

Faulstich is additionally accused of carrying an uncased, loaded, and immediately accessible handgun in the vehicle on the same date, when he had no valid Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card. His driver’s license had also been revoked at the time of the offense, and he was reportedly in possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine.

Faulstich was granted pretrial release from custody in this case and was issued a notice to appear in court.

All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
