Hot, Humid Monday Brings Extreme Heat Warning and Heat Index Near 112

Monday starts mostly cloudy and already warm, with temperatures in the low 80s early and a feels like temperature in the mid-90s. Humidity is doing most of the heavy lifting right away, so even the first trip outside may feel like stepping into a warm bath.

By afternoon, clouds break for some sun and the heat quickly takes over. The high reaches about 98, with a feels like temperature pushing near 112. A stray thunderstorm cannot be ruled out, but rain chances stay very low at 5%. Winds turn west-southwest at around 9 mph, with gusts up to 21 mph. This is the hottest part of the day, and it comes with an Extreme Heat Warning through 9 p.m.

Monday evening stays very warm and sticky after sunset, with the heat easing only slowly. Skies trend mainly clear, and conditions stay quiet with no widespread rain expected.
