Marquette improved to 1-3, while McGivney fell to 2-4.

Marquette head coach Dan Weidman said he was proud of his girls to rebound from a 17-0 loss to Father McGivney on Tuesday to defeat the team 17-10 on Thursday.

He said he has a group without tremendous softball experience, but with a lot of athletic talent. He said he sees the team jelling, and he is hoping by May to make a run with the team in the playoffs. He is also hoping to get a top pitching prospect - McKenna Lievers - back by May.

“I was proud that the girls kept their chins up and fought hard enough to beat them when they had been beaten handily two days prior. It was kind of a stepping stone. If you get beaten all the time badly, it is demoralizing, so this was a great win."
