Jersey Middle School Softball Team Opens Regional Play With Dominant 15-5 Victory

EDWARDSVILLE - The Jersey Community Middle School softball team opened regional play with a 15-5 win over Coolidge on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, in the Edwardsville Regional, as the Panthers Middle School team also celebrated its eighth-grade players.

Kaleigh Strohbeck led JCMS with two triples and earned the win, striking out six. Quincy Crotchett also had two triples, and Valery Heltsley added a triple.

The Panthers, who have 28 girls in sixth through eighth grades participating this season, improved to 8-4. The team won Thursday evening to secure co-champion honors in the small-school division of the Metro East Athletic Conference.

JCMS will continue to play in the Edwardsville regional.
