Jersey Community High Schoolers to Play Guitar Concert and Cover Riverbend Rock Band

The community is invited to Jersey Community High School for their Rocksgiving concert, featuring student performances.

JERSEYVILLE - Community members are encouraged to enjoy “A Feast for the Ears” at Jersey Community High School’s upcoming Rocksgiving concert.

At 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, community members can enjoy music by the high school’s guitar lab. Students will play music by AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Alice in Chains, and other famous bands, including the Riverbend’s own Judge Nothing.

“These kids have got great taste in music,” said Nikki Mooney, a parent and secretary for the high school’s Theater Board.

Tickets cost $5 and can be purchased at the door. Mooney explained that her son participates in the guitar lab and will also be opening the concert with his band, Omniscience. Additionally, members of the JCHS choir will perform a few song selections, and Chris McCoy will provide guitar support.

The concert is directed by Brent Stater, who oversees the choir and guitar lab. Stater started a guitar lab class last year, and it soon grew to encompass three classes. Mooney’s son was “blown away” by the experience and learned a lot under Stater’s tutelage.

A few local rockstars will also be in attendance at the concert. Judge Nothing vocalist Doug Raffety, drummer Andy Dykeman, and the wife of late bassist Flea Bodine will be there to celebrate the students and enjoy the cover of a Judge Nothing song.

The students are covering “Suitcase” by Judge Nothing, which originally debuted in Jerseyville, making the experience “double special” for students and Judge Nothing members alike, Mooney said.

The students hope to perform for a sold-out audience on Nov. 22.

“It’s really cool,” Mooney added. “It’s going to be in the auditorium in the high school, and we’re really hoping to legit pack the house for them, sell out every seat.”
