Jerseyville Man Charged With Aggravated Stalking, Fleeing Police
Threatening calls and texts, attempted flight from officer yield felony charges against Jerseyville man with extensive criminal past.
JERSEYVILLE – A Jerseyville man with multiple prior convictions faces new charges after allegedly threatening the same victim from a prior kidnapping case via phone calls and text messages, then attempting to flee from police.

Michael A. Malloy, 45, of Jerseyville, was charged on Nov. 13, 2025 with one count each of aggravated stalking (a Class 3 felony), violation of an Order of Protection, and aggravated fleeing/attempting to elude a peace officer (both Class 4 felonies).
From Oct. 9 to Nov. 11, 2025, Malloy allegedly made multiple threatening telephone calls and sent multiple threatening text messages to the victim, violating an Order of Protection which was issued on Nov. 5, 2025. Charging documents note Malloy had previously been convicted of violating an Order of Protection.
Malloy is additionally accused of fleeing from police on Nov. 11, 2025, when he reportedly drive a red 2006 Dodge Caravan northbound on Highway 111 and failed to stop at a posted stop sign on West County Road after being given a visual or audible signal from a law enforcement officer to stop his vehicle.
During his attempted flight from the officer, Malloy’s vehicle reportedly reached speeds over 21 mph above the legal posted speed limit “several different times within the same pursuit,” according to charging documents.
A petition to deny Malloy’s pretrial release from custody was filed by the Jersey County State’s Attorney’s Office. The petition states the denial of his release is “necessary to prevent the fulfillment of the threat upon which the charge is based,” and that his release would pose a “real and present threat to the safety of any person or the community.”
The petition adds Malloy has a significant criminal history dating back to at least 1998, including a history of violent crimes and multiple prior sentences to the Illinois Department of Corrections. Among other offenses, his prior convictions include stalking, violating an order of protection, and kidnapping, with the victim in this latest case being the same victim from his prior case of kidnapping.
Jersey County Sheriff’s Office records indicate Malloy currently remains in custody at the Jersey County Jail.
All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
