
JERSEYVILLE – A man from Jerseyville faces charges in a felony case of domestic battery filed in Madison County.

Robert W. Reed, 44, of Jerseyville, was charged on Feb. 17, 2026, with a Class 2 felony count of aggravated domestic battery and a Class 4 felony count of his second or subsequent offense of domestic battery.
Reed allegedly intentionally committed an act of domestic battery against a household or family member on Feb. 13, 2026, without legal justification. Charging documents state he had previously been convicted of domestic battery in a prior case from 2024, also filed in Madison County.
According to a petition from the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office to deny Reed’s pretrial release from custody, Reed was on probation for domestic battery against the same victim at the time of this latest offense. The petition notes he is also on conditions of pretrial release in multiple new felony cases.
Reed was ordered remanded to jail for his initial court appearance in this case, which was presented by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
