Don't miss our top stories and need-to-know news everyday in your inbox.
For her dedication, Kimberly Price is a DD Homes Network Student of the Month for Civic Memorial High School.
Price, a senior, has been a member of the district’s band program since fifth grade. She has also served as a percussion student leader for two of those years. She is a member of Tri-M, the music honor society.
As a member of the Debate Club, Price has served in both the secretary and vice president roles. She also participates in the Drama Club and recently joined Educators Rising. She is the vice president of the Creative Writing Club.
She was recently inducted into the National Honor Society and the mathematics honor society Mu Alpha Theta. These organizations require high grades and many hours of community service. Price volunteers regularly with Our Lady Queen of Peace church.
She is working to start her own photography business. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, playing flute and guitar, composing music, and writing fiction.
Music is an important part of her life. Price once tried to quit the band; luckily, her fellow students and Mr. Hornsey convinced her to stick it out, and she is thankful for this. She was recently elected for the Arion Award, a student-elected award that determines who plays a solo at the spring concert. She also was a part of the SIUE Honor Band at the SIUE Bi-State Festival and the MVC Honor Band Festival.
Price is excited for her next steps, and her teachers and loved ones can’t wait to watch her succeed.
“I don't know exactly where I'm going, but I do know I want to be a radiology technician!” she shared. “I really would love to specialize in pediatrics because taking the Education Pathway classes at CM have helped me realize I absolutely adore working with children. I also plan to get involved with some type of school band and help out with their program, since I can't really just leave music behind. It's my passion and I'd love to share it with kids willing to learn!”
Congratulations to Kimberly for this recognition by Civic Memorial High School and the DD Homes Network!
