Lane Closures Set for U.S. 67 at Clark Bridge

IDOT said traffic on the Clark Bridge in Alton will be reduced to one lane in each direction during off-peak hours Tuesday for maintenance work.

ALTON – The Illinois Department of Transportation today announced that U.S. 67 at the Clark Bridge will be reduced to one lane in each direction on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, weather permitting, for bridge maintenance.

The lane closures will be limited to off-peak hours. All lanes will be open during peak hours from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. southbound and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. northbound.

Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes during this closure. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, be alert for changing conditions, obey all construction signage, and refrain from using mobile devices while approaching and traveling through the work zone.
