LC Elects Emily Hoge As The 2026-2027 Student Trustee

GODFREY — The students of Lewis and Clark Community College have elected Emily Hoge as the school’s 2026-2027 student trustee, selecting an active campus leader with a background in service, workforce leadership and student advocacy.

Hoge serves as a training lead at Chick-fil-A in Edwardsville and is a recipient of the company’s Remarkable Futures Scholarship. Before enrolling at Lewis and Clark, she was involved in several leadership and service organizations, including Leo Club, Girl Scouts, Student Ambassadors, Brighter Futures Club and Triad Strong, supporting community initiatives and assisting students and families in need.

On campus, Hoge is treasurer of the Nursing Club, serves on the Nursing Advisory Committee and participates in Nursing Minorities Meetings.

“Leadership is not about authority,” Hoge said. “It’s about responsibility, representation and action. I believe in speaking for others, following through on commitments and bringing people together.”

As student trustee, Hoge said she will focus on increasing awareness of the college’s programs, strengthening student engagement and expanding support for students balancing academics with work and family responsibilities.

She noted that as a commuter campus, LC faces challenges in building connections among students, as well as increasing visibility in surrounding communities.

“By improving outreach and creating more opportunities for involvement, we can build a stronger, more connected campus,” Hoge said.

To better understand student concerns, Hoge plans to attend a variety of student organization meetings and campus events to engage with students from diverse backgrounds.

Hoge said she values the college’s strong sense of community, citing its athletics programs and College for Life as standout features.

“We have a beautiful campus, a supportive community and a lot of room to grow,” she said. “I’m excited to serve as a voice for students.”

The student trustee serves as a liaison between the student body and the Lewis and Clark Board of Trustees.
