
BREESE — Marquette Catholic lost 28-27 to Breese Mater Dei in a football encounter on Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, in Breese after a late touchdown brought the Explorers within one point, but the ensuing extra-point attempt was unsuccessful.

Marquette fell behind 7-0 in the first quarter before tying the game in the second when Toby Eberlin connected with Joe Stephan for an 8-yard touchdown. Mater Dei answered with a 67-yard touchdown pass, but Eberlin scored on a 2-yard run to send the teams into halftime tied at 14.
The Explorers took their first lead in the third quarter on a 56-yard touchdown run by Longstreet. Mater Dei responded with two fourth-quarter touchdown passes, one from 21 yards and another from 7 yards, to move ahead 28-21.
Longstreet scored his second touchdown on a 12-yard run with 2:04 remaining, cutting the deficit to one, but Marquette could not convert the extra point.
Longstreet led Marquette’s offense with 263 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries, averaging 9.7 yards per attempt. McLeod added 29 yards on seven carries as the Explorers finished with 298 rushing yards. Eberlin threw for approximately 35 yards.
Defensively, Kline led Marquette with five solo tackles. McLeod had four solo tackles and two assists, Longstreet added four solo stops, and Osborne finished with three.
