EAST ST. LOUIS — State Representative Kevin Schmidt visited East St. Louis recently to honor Personal Touch Boutique as the November Business of the Month. The men’s clothing store, owned by Bernita and Derrick Maxwell, has served the community from its location at 1958 State Street since 1994.

Derrick Maxwell began his retail career in 1988 by selling merchandise from the trunk of his car. Six years later, he opened the 4,200-square-foot Personal Touch Boutique, which offers a wide selection of men’s apparel, including shoes, hats, suits, and dresswear. The store caters to customers seeking clothing for weddings, funerals, church services, and office wear.
Throughout the years, the Maxwells have maintained their business despite various challenges, continuing to provide quality service and serving as role models for local youth.
During his visit, State Rep. Schmidt commended the couple’s dedication and success, wishing them continued prosperity in East St. Louis.
