Mutual aid was requested from the Wood River, Roxana, Rosewood Heights, and Alton fire departments.

“The house appears savable,” East Alton Fire Chief Jeremy Dively said. “A bedroom ceiling collapsed, and the attic sustained water damage. It appears the fire started in a leaf pile next to the house.”

The fire did reach the attic, causing part of the bedroom ceiling to collapse.

“I am so proud of our firefighters and our mutual aid departments,” Chief Dively added. “It’s been a busy week and a half for our department.”
