New Horizons Band of Godfrey Hosting 2025 ‘Sounds of Christmas’ Concert

GODFREY – Godfrey's New Horizons Band is celebrating the holiday season and 27 years of musical performances with an upcoming “Sounds of Christmas” concert.

The holiday concert is set for Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025 at 2 p.m. at the McNicholas Club (also known as the Knights of Columbus or “KC” Hall), located at 1713 Stamper Lane in Godfrey. Doors will open one hour before the concert begins.
Longtime Director Stanley Chytil will lead the band in playing a series of fan-favorite holiday tunes, including “The Christmas Song,” Jingle Bell Rock,” “Winter Wonderland,” “Mele Kalikimaka,” and “Sleigh Ride.”
Concert organizers note there will be “plenty of room for dancin’ and prancin’, an audience sing-along, and a special recitation of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’ by Jim Simonds for the kids.” Attendees will also enjoy vocal performances from band members Gail Drillinger, Carol Patterson, Julie McPike and Stan Lastovka.
In addition to the festive musical entertainment, homemade desserts, refreshments, and a cash bar await attendees for an admission price of just $10 at the door for adults and children over 13, with free admission for kids 12 and under.
The New Horizons Band of Godfrey is a member of the New Horizons International Music Association, Inc. (NHIMA) and is one of many bands across the United States that offer older citizens a chance to get back to playing their instruments and brush up on their musicianship. The band has proudly performed at several community events and family celebrations since its inception in 1998 under Chytil’s direction.
Prospective members are welcome to sit in a practice session on Monday nights at 5 p.m. at the Godfrey Knights of Columbus Hall. Those looking to support the band’s ongoing efforts and events can mail tax-deductible donations to P.O. Box 42, Godfrey, IL 62035, as the band is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
