Pere Marquette Region Shows Peak Fall Colors This Weekend

GRAFTON - Scott Isringhausen, a park ranger at Pere Marquette in Grafton, expressed surprise at the vibrant fall colors persisting into November, noting it is likely the latest in the season he has seen such a display.
However, he emphasized that those who want to see fall colors at their best should visit the region this weekend.

“It is getting so late in the year, into November, and the fall colors are pretty now,” he said. He attributed the prolonged foliage to an unusually mild and dry year, which has allowed trees to hold on longer than usual.
Isringhausen identified this weekend as the probable peak for fall colors, cautioning that a sharp cold front expected Sunday night, Nov. 9, 2025, will likely end the season.
“It is supposed to get really cold Sunday night; what is left of the leaves will then die,” he said.
He highlighted Pere Marquette as a particularly scenic area at this time.
“Pere Marquette is one of the most favorite spots, really pretty right now. The drive is pretty, and it is worth making a drive,” Isringhausen said. He also mentioned a pond near a cabin where people often stand to enjoy the view.
Weather forecasts indicate that Sunday will be windy and cold, with highs only in the low 40s.
A hard freeze is expected Monday morning, Nov. 10, 2025, with overnight temperatures dropping into the mid-20s across the region.
Monday will remain sunny but chilly, with highs again in the low 40s before temperatures begin to moderate later in the week.
