ALTON — Firefighters responded to a house fire Sunday evening in the 600 block of Wyss Avenue after smoke was seen coming from the eaves of the residence.

The Alton Fire Department arrived and conducted a search of the home. No one was found inside, and no injuries were reported.

Firefighters requested a box alarm, bringing the East Alton Fire Department to the scene However, East Alton firefighters were canceled before arriving after the fire was quickly brought under control.
The cause of the fire remained unknown Sunday evening.
