
JERSEYVILLE - The Jerseyville Post 492 Junior Legion team is state-bound after a big 2-1 victory over Galesburg.
Jerseyville won the Department of Illinois American Legion 3rd Division Junior Legion Tournament in Galesburg, defeating Galesburg 2-1 in the division title game and advancing to this weekend’s state title tournament in Carol Stream, Illinois.

The Jerseyville Post 492 boys are the Sparklight Male Athletes of the Month for Jersey.
The team is a Junior Legion squad for players 17 and under from Jerseyville and managed by Darren Perdun. Perdun is coming off a spring baseball season where his club posted 22 wins. The Jerseyville roster includes Caden Crimmins, Luther Vanausdoll, Jagger Young, Graham Vanausdoll, Ian Kanallakan, Justice Drainer, Hudson Schannot, Isaac Hackethal, Dylan Niemeyer, Liam Scharth, Brody Short, Liam Spencer and Logan Dabbs. The Jerseyville community is very excited about the Junior Legion team's performance this season and Short's stellar overall play as a pitcher. The future looks very bright for Jersey Community High School under Coach Perdun. Brody Short fanned 13 batters in 6.2 innings, as Jerseyville Post 492's Junior American Legion baseball team took a tightly-fought 2-1 win over Galesburg Post 285 in the championship game of the Illinois Third Division junior tournament Friday afternoon in Galesburg. Playing in 3 p.m. games with a heat index above 100 degrees, Jerseyville showed resilience and perseverance and claimed the 3rd Division Junior Legion tournament title with the championship win over Galesburg.
