St. Louis County Detectives Continue To Probe Fatal Altercation

A 52-year-old man succumbed to injuries sustained during a domestic altercation at his home in St. Louis County, prompting an ongoing police investigation.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY - St. Louis County Police continue to investigate a homicide that resulted in the death of a 52-year-old man following a domestic disturbance in the 300 block of Greycliff Bluff Drive.

Officers from the South County Precinct responded to a call at 11:18 p.m. on Nov. 18, 2025. Upon arrival, they found Emil Schmidt IV unresponsive inside the residence. Schmidt was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries on Nov. 29.

St. Louis County Police said preliminary findings indicate that an altercation between Schmidt and another adult male inside the home led to a physical struggle, during which Schmidt was incapacitated.

A person of interest has been taken into custody.

The St. Louis County Bureau of Crimes Against Persons detectives are conducting the ongoing investigation.
