ALTON - The St. Mary’s in Alton eighth-grade volleyball team is headed back to the state tournament after winning a regional title Wednesday night, March 18, 2026.

The Chargers, who were undefeated in Southern Springfield Catholic Athletic Conference play, won the Southern Illinois Junior High School Athletic Association Class S, Region 10 regional.

St. Mary’s in Alton defeated Sts. Peter and Paul in Collinsville in the first round and also defeated St. Mary’s Edwardsville in the final.

St. Mary’s will play in the Class S state tournament in Herrin on Saturday, March 28, 2026.

It will be the Chargers’ second consecutive appearance in the state tournament.
