Tara Glynn Named Collinsville Unit School District 10 Director of Student Services Beginning July 2026

COLLINSVILLE – The Collinsville Community Unit School District 10 Board of Education has approved Tara Glynn as the district’s director of student services, effective July 1, 2026. Tara currently serves as special education supervisor and principal of Hollywood Heights School.

The student services director role will be vacant at the end of the 2025-26 school year due to the retirement of current assistant superintendent and director of student services, Bradley Hyre.

The student services department handles important business for parents, students, former students and graduates. It is responsible for student records, enrollment, registration, transcripts, transportation, student discipline, residency and truancy.

“Mrs. Glynn's organization, legal knowledge and ability to speak to anyone set her apart during the interview process for the district's next director of student services. Furthermore, she cares about our students, their families and focuses on improvement,” said Superintendent Dr. Mark B. Skertich.

Glynn has dedicated her entire 19-year career to serving the students, families and staff of Collinsville CUSD 10. She started as a student teacher at Collinsville High School, then joined the district as a special education teacher. During her tenure at CHS, she served in multiple roles, including four years as a special education co-teacher, four years as the life skills teacher and five years as the IEP Coordinator. In 2019, she transitioned to her current role as special education supervisor, where she supports programs, staff and students across the district.

“I believe that every student has the capacity to learn, achieve and grow when provided with the right support and opportunities. Education must begin by meeting each learner where they are, academically, socially and emotionally, and by recognizing the unique strengths, needs and lived experiences they bring to the classroom,” says Glynn, “When we start from a place of understanding, we can design meaningful instruction, targeted interventions and supportive environments that enable students to reach their fullest potential.”

She is a lifelong Metro East resident who grew up in Granite City. Tara earned a Bachelor of Science in special education from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and a Master of Education from Lindenwood University. She later completed administrative leadership and director of special education certifications from SIUE.

Glynn lives in Collinsville with her husband Chris, a CHS math teacher and baseball coach, and their three daughters Kynzi, Elizabeth and Elaina, who attend school in the district. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and reading.

She adds, “I am excited to continue my educational journey as a Kahok. Purple isn’t just what we wear, it’s how we Envision, Empower, and Achieve!”

Collinsville Community Unit School District #10 comprises 12 schools, serving 6,000 students PreK-12 in Madison & St. Clair Counties in southwestern Illinois.
