Tigers Finish Eighth: Thompson Leads Way For Tigers With 30th Place Finish, Bush Is Top Runner For Panthers

Edwardsville girls have high state finish, O'Fallon girls also post strong performances.

PEORIA - Ella Thompson led the way for Edwardsville with a 30th-place finish in the race, while Ellie Bush was O'Fallon's top runner, placing in 44th. The Tigers finished eighth as a team, and the Panthers wound up in 20th in the IHSA Class 3A girls state cross country meet Saturday afternoon, Nov. 8, 2025, at Detweiler Park in Peoria.

The team state championship went to Barrington, with 144 points, while Mt. Prospect was second at 159 points, third place went to Elmhurst York, who had 187 points, in fourth place was Arlington Heights John Hersey at 199 points, and Lake Zurich finished up the top five with 209 points. Edwardsville finished in eighth with 260 points, and O'Fallon came in 20th at 503 points.

Karlin Janowski of York was the individual winner, coming in at 16:10.00, with Avery Hacker of Batavia second at 16;13.98. Macy Ermitage of Downers Grove North was third at 16:19.07, fourth-place Allison Shutler of Chicago St. Ignatius College Prep Catholic at 16:22.79, and Wolfpack teammate Annika Swan rounded out the top five at 16:33.92.

Thompson led the way for the Tigers with a time of 17:22.19, while Morgan Popelar was next at 17:28.60, Madison Popelar had a time of 17:36.78, Reagan Jumper came in at 17:53.74, and Clara Johnson's time was 18:10.59.

Bush led the Panthers with a time of 17:33.50, with Lilly McCollum in at 17:45.65, Kiah Mix was in at 18:23.18, Mae Naveira was home at 18:40.07, and Gwyneth Cintron had a time of 19:07.68.
