Triad's Emberlie Goins Wins Madison County Girls Cross Country Race As Edwardsville Claims Team Title

The Triad sophomore set the pace over three miles, but Edwardsville’s tightly packed finishers shaped the team competition. Zoe Scroggins leads Tigers, Stassi paces Shells.

Triad’s Emberlie Goins.ALTON - Edwardsville placed five runners among the top six finishers to win the Madison County girls cross country team title Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026, at Alton High School, while Triad’s Emberlie Goins won the 3-mile varsity race.

Edwardsville finished with 20 points, ahead of runner-up Roxana’s 81. Triad took third with 91 points, one point ahead of Highland.

Goins, a sophomore, finished in 19 minutes, 2.8 seconds. Edwardsville freshman Zoe Scroggins was second in a personal-best 19:12.0, leading a group of five consecutive Edwardsville finishers.

Junior Hannah Stahlheber placed third in 19:23.5, followed by freshman Emily Stahlheber in a personal-best 19:26.9. Sophomore Nova Shaw finished fifth in 19:29.8, and freshman Audrey Floyd was sixth in 19:30.6.

Edwardsville also had junior Cara Kielty finish eighth in 20:00.5 and sophomore Virginia Siejka place 10th in 20:13.4.

Roxana's Gianna Stassi.Senior Gianna Stassi led Roxana with a seventh-place finish in 19:58.1. Senior Elizabeth Clouse finished 14th in 20:55.8, followed by sophomore Savannah Cline in 20th, senior Bailey Schallenberg-Decker in 24th and junior Leah Newton in 25th.

Triad freshman Leila Hiatt placed ninth in 20:12.6. Junior Makena Steele finished 23rd in 22:05.2, and freshman Harper Diehl was 28th in 22:58.1.

Highland was led by sophomores Katie Fenton and Morgan Greenwald, who finished 12th and 13th in 20:33.3 and 20:37.6, respectively. Junior Josie Kircher placed 18th in 21:11.2.

Metro-East Lutheran finished fifth in the team standings with 114 points, followed by Collinsville with 156 and Civic Memorial with 158.

Junior Lucy Doyle led Metro-East Lutheran, placing 15th in 21:00.5. Collinsville senior Ryelan Judiscak finished 16th in a season-best 21:04.3, and Civic Memorial junior Lillie Wood was 17th in 21:05.8.

Father McGivney freshman Elizabeth Moll finished 11th overall in a personal-best 20:20.1. Teammates McKenzie Jones and Ainsley Turkington, both seniors, placed 19th and 22nd in 21:31.5 and 22:00.7, respectively.

Marquette sophomore Katherine Fitzgerald finished 32nd in a personal best of 23:15.3.
