Two Airlifted After Explosion In Calhoun County
Emergency teams responded swiftly to a propane tank explosion involving a duck blind, with two victims airlifted to St. Louis hospitals.
CALHOUN COUNTY — A propane tank explosion and fire in the Calhoun Point hunting area injured three people Sunday morning, prompting a multi-agency emergency response, officials said.
The Point Fire Protection District received a call at approximately 9:50 a.m. reporting an explosion and fire involving a duck blind, according to a report relayed to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred within the Calhoun Point hunting area near Brussels.

Emergency personnel from the Point Fire Protection District, Calhoun County EMS, and multiple ambulance services responded to the scene. Two of the injured were airlifted by helicopter to regional hospitals, including Saint Louis University and Mercy. The severity of their injuries has not been disclosed.
Authorities said the cause of the propane tank explosion remains under investigation. Emergency crews continue to manage the situation in the area.
