Two Charged With Burglary, Copper Theft From Alton Ameren Facility
Break-in and copper theft at Ameren Facility yields felony charges against Alton and Brighton residents.
ALTON – Two local men face felony charges after allegedly burglarizing an Ameren facility in Alton and stealing copper wire from the site.
Bradley W. Crane, 48, of Brighton, and Michael A. Pierce, 26, of Alton, were both charged on Oct. 28, 2025 with one count each of burglary (both Class 2 felonies) and theft (both Class 3 felonies).
The two allegedly knowingly and without authority entered a building at 700 Oakwood Road in Alton which was property of Ameren Illinois Utilities with the intent to commit a theft on Feb. 8, 2025.
Both are additionally accused of stealing over $500 worth of copper wire from the facility.
The Alton Police Department presented both of the cases against Crane and Pierce, both of whom were granted pretrial release from custody.
All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
