Vehicle Slams Into Edwardsville Store and Police Squad Car

Troopers responded just after 10 a.m. after a vehicle struck a closed Honey Baked Ham location and an Edwardsville squad car.

EDWARDSVILLE - A vehicle crashed into a closed Honey Baked Ham Seasonal Store and struck an Edwardsville Police Department squad car Tuesday morning in the 1500 block of Troy Road in Edwardsville, leaving one officer with minor injuries, according to Illinois State Police.

Illinois State Police Troop 8 said it responded to the scene in Madison County at approximately 10:02 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026, after a report of a vehicle that had crashed into the business.

The business was closed and unoccupied at the time of the crash, state police said.

During the incident, the vehicle also struck an Edwardsville police squad car, according to state police.

An Edwardsville Police officer was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Illinois State Police said the incident remains under investigation and that no further information was available.
