At 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026, Villa Rose will host its annual trick-or-treat night. Families can come by the lobby at 401 S. Moreland Road in Bethalto and meet with residents as the kids trick-or-treat. This will be followed by an open house from 2–4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026, where people can stop by to tour the building and learn more about the community’s work.

Executive Director Cindy Cannon noted that Villa Rose is a unique independent living community. She emphasized that both the trick-or-treat and the open house are great opportunities to engage with the staff and residents.

“I think it’s the best-kept surprise,” she said. “Villa Rose is family-owned, and there’s just a different feel to it. We know each and every one of the people that live there and their family members. We truly care, and I think that if they come in, they would see the environment and then understand a little bit more. Why Villa Rose? Because I think that they’ll probably get one of the best cares in the region.”

The annual trick-or-treat on Oct. 27 promises to be a lot of fun. Cannon noted that the residents are always excited to welcome the kids and give out candy. They love to bring in their families and grandchildren, or else they enjoy getting to know the community’s kids and seeing all the costumes.

The open house on Nov. 1 is also an opportunity to see what Villa Rose has to offer. Cannon noted that there will be several tours available throughout the day, and it’s a great chance to get to know the staff, chat with residents, and get a feel for the community.

“It’s a no-pressure situation. Just come in, take a little tour with some other people, and kind of see what’s available,” she said. “We always see a range of people that come in, like maybe family members that are looking for a loved one and they’re thinking maybe this might be a good fit, but you want to take a look at what it’s going to look like before you bring them. And so we get some of that. We get people who are just planning for the future.”

As an independent living community, Villa Rose has a care team onsite 24/7 that can provide assistive services. Cannon noted that this is a great way to “age in place,” with the option to add on services like medication reminders and shower assistance as needed.

She encourages people to stop by the upcoming trick-or-treat and open house to get a better sense of the community and the work they do. She hopes both events are fun ways to connect Villa Rose residents with the Bethalto community.

“We want to invite the community to come out,” she added.
