Volleyball Drops First Game of Governors Classic to SIU Carbondale

While the Cougars kept pace with the Salukis in each set of the match, it was Carbondale's scoring runs of five or more points in each set that became difficult for the Cougars to overcome, dropping the sets 26-28, 24-26, and 22-25.

Kennedy Pike was the top offensive performer for SIUE, recording 11 kills on 23 attacks for a .435 attack percentage, also adding two blocks and three digs on the match. Sophie Robinson also matched Pike's game-high 11 kills on 23 attacks, while contributing a solo block and an assist.

Defensively, senior middle blocker Vienna Elliott led the Cougars at the net against her former team, tallying four total blocks.

The Cougars will look to bounce back tonight when they face Austin Peay at 7 p.m. The match will be live streamed on ESPN+.
