Wood River Man Charged With Assault, Intimidation With Air Pistol
Local 18-year-old faces felony after allegedly threatening juvenile victim while armed with air pistol.
WOOD RIVER – Wood River police have charged an 18-year-old resident with aggravated assault and intimidation after he allegedly used an air pistol to threaten a juvenile victim.

Brennen R. Sykes, 18, of Wood River, was charged on Nov. 14, 2025 with one count each of intimidation (a Class 3 felony) and aggravated assault (a Class A misdemeanor).
Sykes allegedly appeared at the residence of a 17-year-old victim on Nov. 12, 2025 and “displayed an air pistol in a threatening manner,” placing the juvenile victim in reasonable apprehension of receiving a battery, according to charging documents.
The Wood River Police Department presented the case against Sykes, who was ordered released from custody pending trial. Additional conditions were imposed on his release, including that he have no contact with and remain at least 500 feet away from the victim in this case.
Sykes was additionally ordered not to possess any firearms while on pretrial release and to surrender any firearms or Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card in his possession to the Wood River Police Department.
All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
