Edith Turner

Edith S. Turner, 94, died at 4:55 p.m. Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Integrity of Wood River.  Born August 15, 1923 in Christian County, IL, she was the daughter of George C. and Rosa (Beck) Neal.  Mrs. Turner was a member of the First Christian Church in Alton and the Life Widow’s Club.  She had worked in the domestic department for Smith Funeral Home for 18 years.  On May 20, 1940 she married Harry A. Turner in Bowling Green, MO.  He preceded her in death on December 21, 1994.  Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Harry Lee and Kathy Turner of Wood River, two grandchildren, Michael H. Turk (Lori) of Champaign, IL, and Lana Turner-Weber (Jackie) of Godfrey, four great grandchildren, Lee Tinnon of Phoenix, AZ, and Hannah, Samuel and Peyton Turk all of Champaign, IL, and one brother, Clifford J. Neal of Jerseyville.  Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Turner-Turk and a sister, Lillian Blasa.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.  Burial will be at West Cemetery in Thayer, IL.  Memorials may be made to OSF St. Anthony’s Hospice or the First Christian Church.  Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
