Helen G. Gutierrez, 87, died at 1:25 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2018 at Bethalto Care Center. Born August 18, 1930 in Partridge, Kansas, she was the daughter of John Lee and Ruth Gonzalez. Mrs. Gutierrez was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton and retired as a seamstress from Carol Frew Bridal Shop. In April 1947 she married John M. Gutierrez. He preceded her in death on December 15, 2015. Surviving is a daughter, Karen (Terry) Taviner of Alton, a son, Gregory (Gail) Gutierrez of Godfrey, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers and one sister. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Gutierrez, three brothers and six sisters. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. Immediately following services, a luncheon will be held at the Godfrey Knights of Columbus, 1713 Stamper Lane, Godfrey, IL. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
