Harold Ray Mitchell, 72, lost his battle with Lukemia on Wednesday, April 18, 2018.
Born in Alton on November 4, 1945, he was the son of Theodore Roosevelt and Verna Dean (Scribner) Mitchell.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he had worked in maintenance for Alton Box Board for 30 years before retiring in 1998.
He married his wife of nearly 50 years, Paula Greer on April 27, 1968 in Alton. She survives.
Surviving also are two daughters, Tracy (Kelly) Morris of Meredoscia, Tina Mitchell of Godfrey; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and three sisters, Sandy (Mickey) Stoner of Brighton. Wanda Walker of Alton, and Doris (Jerry) Nolan of Bunker Hill.
Preceding in death were his parents; a son in infancy, Brent Allen Mitchell; brother, Theodore Mitchell; and sister, Frances Carroll.
A Celebration of Life Memorial visitation will begin at 12 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. on April 27 at the Brighton First Assembly of God Church. Pastor Clyde Kalall will officiate with his daughters providing eulogies.
Memorials may be made to the family in care of expenses.
