
Adelheid Schrader, 84, of Glen Carbon, Illinois passed away at 5:54 a.m. on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at University Nursing and Rehabilitation in Edwardsville.
She was born March 23, 1934 in Saalfelden, Austria, a daughter of the late Josef Keuschnigg and Anna (Hirschbichler) Asslinger. She married Robert Everett Schrader on December 19, 1953 in Saalfelden, Austria and he survives.
She had worked in tax preparation with 42 years of dedicated service working with H&R Block and later owning and operating her own tax preparation office. She had received a B.A. Degree specializing in marketing. She was a faithful member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Glen Carbon.
Adelheid was very active and dedicated the Boy Scouts of America throughout the years, serving many capacities and was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. She had also volunteered with the 4-H Club, served as the advertisement chairman of the Glen Fest and a former PTA President with the Glen Carbon Elementary School.
Adelheid was very proud of her heritage, teaching others the German language and making many travels back to her homestead in Austria and all over Europe.
In addition to her beloved husband of nearly 65 years, she is survived by four children and spouses, Norma Ann and Walter Mertzke of Hollywood Heights, Illinois, Robert Lee Schrader and Karen Tilashalski of Collinsville, Mark Leonard Schrader of Edwardsville and Lisa Idress and Floyd Wildhaber of Collinsville; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three brothers, Joseph Hirschbichler of Saalfelden, Austria, Walter Asslinger of Valencia, Spain and Hermann Asslinger of Saalfelden, Austria; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Ignatz Asslinger.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Glen Carbon on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Patrick Gibbons as celebrant.
Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
