Adolf L. Reiter, 91, died at 7:30 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2018 at Stillwater Senior Living in Edwardsville. Born March 27, 1927 in Augsburg, Germany, he was the son of Leoanhard and Maria (Vogel) Reiter. Mr. Reiter served with the German Luftwaffe during WWII and was a licensed glider pilot. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and was a volunteer fireman in Godfrey during the 1960’s. He retired as a mold maker for Owens-Illinois. On May 16, 1953 he married the former Lilli Foerster in St. Louis, MO. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Diana Hammon and the late Scott Hammon of Maryville, and Anita Kell (Steven) of Eureka, MO, and one son, Thomas Reiter (Kathy) of Louisville, KY. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Katie Kleibocker (Eric), Angela Hammon, Shane Kell, Corrie Kenney (Brian), Glen Reiter and Bruce Reiter, one step granddaughter, Ashley Kell, two great grandchildren, Riley Kenney and Lincoln Kenney, and two step great grandchildren, Mark Kenney and Katie Kenney. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Scott Hammon and a step grandson, Nick Cashen. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2018. Father Steve Pohlman will officiate.
