JERSEYVILLE - Alma Lou (Perkinson) Martin, 78, entered into eternal peace at 2:47 p.m., Sunday, April 29, 2018 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 2, 1940 in Perkins, MO, one of nine children born to the late Charles "Lee" and Ethel (Simmons) Perkinson. She married Harry Martin on November 11, 1967 in Alton and together their 50 years of marriage was blessed with many wonderful memories and the joys that came with raising their three children. Alma had a love for all things family, and treasured each and every moment she spent with each of them. She had a zest for the outdoors and especially enjoyed her garden and planting flowers, as well as hunting morel mushrooms. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends and hosting them all at her home. As anyone who knew Alma would agree, she had a laugh that could fill the room and a smile that could brighten even the darkest of places. Those left to treasure her memory are her husband, Harry Martin of Jerseyville; three children and their spouses, Karen and Bobby Blasa of Medora; Susan and Bobby Hill of Jerseyville and Eddie Martin of Lave Hot Springs, Idaho; ten grandchildren, Brandie and Kyle Cox; Clayton Blasa; Josh Dickerman; Juston Hill; Tara Mann; Carl and Amy Hill; Alison Hill; Landon Martin; and twins Waylon and Alba Martin; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters in-law, Donny and Effie Perkinson of Alton; Alex and Brenda Perkinson of Pearl and Denny and Linda Perkinson of Jerseyville; two sisters, Delores Holland of Alton and Terry and Gerry McGauley of Shepardsville, KY; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends, all of whom she treated like family, including a very special friend, Gwen Reynolds of Jerseyville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Cairns and her husband, Harold and Alice Forbes; a brother and sister in-law, Charlie and Sharon Perkinson; as well as a brother in-law, Jackson Holland. Per her wishes, cremation rights have been accorded. The family invites anyone who would like to attend  to an open house on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Harry and Alma's home, 16867 US Highway 67 in Jerseyville. At Alma's request, in lieu of memorials, you are invited to bring a perennial flower to be planted in her garden in her memory. 
Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville is in charge of arrangements.
