Ameyl Barenreuther

Ameyl R. Barenreuther, 89, died at 4:50 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Jersey Community Hospital.  Born August 20, 1921 in Alton, he was the son of Carl August and Ruth Violet (Bieter) Barenreuther.  He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and retired from Owens-Illinois Glass in Alton after 40 years of service.  In 1940 he married the former Elizabeth Sara Cook.  She survives.  Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Ann Rossetto of Wilsonville, IL and Flossie McMillian of Sawyerville, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.  Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.  Burial will be private at Upper Alton Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
