
Ana Maria Twigg, nee Caballero, 95, of Belleville, IL, born January 20, 1930, in Detroit, MI, died Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.
Ana lived a long and meaningful life marked by grace, strength, and a deep love for those around her. As a devoted Catholic she found strength and purpose in her faith and remained active in her church community.
Ana had a deep passion for music and spent many years as a piano teacher, sharing her love for the instrument with her students of all ages including her grandchildren. Her home was often filled with the sound of music and her piano was a source of both joy and reflection.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Lawrence E. Twigg, whom she married on September 11, 1954, and who died on November 20, 2015; her parents, Antonio and Amparo, nee Urrutia, Cabellero; three sisters-in-law, Theresa Sautman, Margaret Beck, and Mabel Twigg; and five brothers-in-law, Robert Twigg, Paul Twigg, Donald Beck, Victor Vergara, and Ted Sautman.
Surviving are her three children, David Twigg of Venice, FL, Linda Vander Pluym of Fairview Heights, IL, and Steven Twigg of Belleville, IL; nine grandchildren, Christopher Vander Pluym, Timothy (Brittany) Vander Pluym, Andrew (Emily) Twigg, Michael (Amanda) Vander Pluym, Alyssa (Kyle) Bennett, Jenna (Jay Darnall) Vander Pluym, Maria (Agustin Rodriguez) Vander Pluym, Angela (Parker Guffey) Vander Pluym, and Steven Twigg; ten great-grandchildren, Vince and Fiona Vander Pluym, Julia and Claire Twigg, Aubrey and Kinsley Bennett, Cooper Guffey, and Juliana, Juliet, and Diandra; three sisters-in-law, Mary Vergara, Judy Twigg, and Mary Ann Twigg; three brothers-in-law, James Twigg, Thomas Twigg, and Michael (Barbara) Twigg; and many special nieces and nephews.
Ana’s legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, each of whom carries a part of her endearing love, wisdom and spirit. Her nearly century-long journey was filled with cherished memories, strong faith, and kindness that touched the lives of all who knew her. She was known for her warmth, resilience, and the unwavering care she extended to her family and friends. Her music, like her presence, brought beauty and comfort to those around her.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.
