
Anne (Schaaf) Pike, 71, died at 4 a.m., Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Ruth Ann Schaaf on November 27, 1946 in Jerseyville, the youngest of six children born to William and Lucille (Calame) Schaaf.
She was raised in Jersey County, where she attended Bethel Baptist Church, and graduated from Southwestern High School in 1964.
A free spirit by nature, Anne left the area after graduation, returning often to spend time with her family.
Anne was very well educated and held numerous degrees. She began her career as a teacher to the deaf and over the years became an editor for various publications. She was also an avid animal lover, rescuing innumerous cats and dogs from humane societies over her lifetime.
She lived on both coasts and Colorado before moving back to Jerseyville in 2014 to be close to her family as her health continued to deteriorate.
Surviving are three sisters, Evelyn Randolph, Marie “Rhea” Whitley and Phyllis Gansz, all of Jerseyville; as well as a brother, William Schaaf of Brighton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister and brother in-law, Edith “Edie” and Robert E. Young; three brothers in-law, John Randolph, Dobie Whitley and Elba Gansz; and a sister in-law, Joann Schaaf.
Per her request, no services will be held.
Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville was in charge of the arrangements.
