Barbara Jennings

Barbara Jane Jennings, 79, died at 11:15 p.m. Monday, January 1, 2018 at Stearns Nursing & Rehab in Granite City. Born April 2, 1938 in Alton, she was the daughter of Paul and Sina Elizabeth (McMahill) Whetzel. She married Gerald Jennings on June 4, 1982 in Alton. He survives. Mrs. Jennings was a member of Elm Street Presbyterian Church in Alton. She worked in Christian education for many years and was also a librarian while she and Gerald resided in Sterling, Virginia. Along with her husband she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, Pauline (Whetzel) Wills, Paul A. Whetzel, and Karl M. Whetzel. There will be no services. Memorials may be made in her memory to the Elm Street Presbyterian Church in Alton. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
