Benjamin Bailey

Benjamin Edward Bailey, 35, of Belleville, IL, born Thursday, February 7, 1991, in Belleville, IL, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, IL.

Ben lived a life that was unmistakably his own-a life filled with music, curiosity, laughter, passion, and the people and animals he loved.

Ben had a deep appreciation for music, ranging from 90’s pop rock to indie punk to Phish. Music wasn’t simply something he listened to; it was something he lived. As a bass guitarist, he found his own voice in the rhythm and energy of the music he loved.

He also had a genuine love for cooking and was excited to work alongside his father at the family’s restaurant. There, his creativity, hard work, and appreciation for good food came together in a way that reflected so much of who he was.

Ben had a tender heart for animals and a fascination with the mysteries of life. He was drawn to astrology and philosophy, always willing to look beyond the obvious and wonder about the bigger questions-the stars above, the meaning of things, and the strange and beautiful journey of being alive.

Those who knew Ben knew that he did not live cautiously or quietly. He had a dynamic personality, and lived with passion, individuality, intensity, and a willingness to follow his own path. He embraced life on his own terms and left an impression that will not easily fade. But most of all, Ben was and always will be a kind and caring soul, who did not hesitate to help anyone in need, big or small. No was a stranger to Ben; he was a friend to everyone he met.

Ben will be remembered for his love of music, his creativity, his compassion for animals, his curious mind, and his unmistakable spirit. More importantly, he will be remembered simply for being Ben: someone who lived deeply, loved fiercely, and made his time here his own.

May his music keep playing, his spirit keep wandering, and may he forever have a seat beneath the stars.

Celebration of Life: There will be a celebration of life from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., Monday, Oct. 19, 2026 with a share time at 7:00 p.m. at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, IL.
