
Betty Lou Alves (née Brown), 87, of Swansea, IL, born on January 13, 1939, in Belleville, IL, passed away peacefully at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.
Betty was a nurse’s assistant for Kimberly Nurses. She was a caretaker for her parents and Hospice patients. She had a passion for all pets, especially her much loved Mickey, a toy poodle. Betty loved music, gardening, and was an avid reader. She became a member of the Church of Christ in 1955.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Texi Brown (née Cheek); her beloved husbands, William Benesh and Jack Alves; brother, Floyd Brown; and great-grandson, Gage Henry.
Left to cherish Betty’s memory are her daughters, Sindy Smith (Kevin) Kubitschek, Debra Benesh; one sister, Sandy (Mike) Bergner; granddaughters, Holly Golee Campbell, Shani Benesh, Lindsay Smith; special niece, Jill (Barry) Orman; nephews, Lane and Jordan; cousins; and friends.
A graveside service will take place on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery; 2900 Sheridan Rd., St. Louis, MO 63125.
