Betty Sawyer

Betty Jean Sawyer, 92, of Collinsville, IL, died at Gillespie Health and Rehab Center, Gillespie, IL on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at 1:19 pm.  

She was born October 22, 1933, in Peoria, IL to Louis Vasel & Hazel Rhodes Vasel. She married Louis Johnson Sawyer on December 19, 1957 in Litchfield, IL. He preceded her in death on August 16, 2022.  

She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved cooking, baking and gardening.  Betty volunteered at St. Anthony's Hospital. She was also involved with the women's auxiliary of Bunker Hill and the Daylily Society of Alton.  

She is survived by her daughters, Luann Sawyer of Collinsville, IL, Kathy L (spouse, Jack) Glagola of Bethlehem, PA, grandchildren, John Robert Glagola, Louis S. Glagola, Harrison P. McLaughlan, Christopher N. (spouse, Max) McLaughlan, and son in Law, John McLaughlan of Collinsville, IL.  

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, son, Jeffrey L. Sawyer, daughter, Michele McLaughlan and brother, Robert Vasel.  No public services are scheduled.
