Brenda Kay Bertels, 57, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Hospice of the Valley in Mesa. Arizona.
She was born October 17, 1958 in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of Eugene and Dolores (Perry) Bertels.
Brenda graduated from Bunker Hill High School and SIUE. She was a member of Christ Greenfield Lutheran Church in Arizona. She belonged to Clowns for Christ, taught vacation Bible School and she enjoyed cross stitching, reading, baseball and she loved animals.
She is survived by her parents of Dorsey, a brother and sister-in-law, Ricky and Janice Bertels of Fall Creek, WI; her nieces and nephews, Mark Easley, Cindy (Ben) Smith, Paula (Joe) Strahmann and Jason Easley; an aunt, Margie Homm of Bethalto; an uncle, Richard (Pat) Perry of St. Charles, MO and cousins, Marsha (Jeff) Vore, Myrna Homm, Mary (Mark) Collins and Renee (Bob) Church.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Roy and Verna Bertels and Harlan and Zona Perry.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Monday, December 28, 2015 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Dorsey with Pastor David Kern officiating.
Burial will follow at Emmaus Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the “We Care Ministry” at Christ Greenfield Lutheran Church.
