Bud Schwegel

Bud Schwegel, 75, died at 11:40 pm Thur. May 23, 2012 at home with his family by his side.

He was born on October 3, 1937 in Alton, IL the son of Peter & Louise (Hesse) Schwegel.

Bud married Phyllis Eppel at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton on April 22, 1957 and she preceded him in death on September 9, 1937.

He owned and operated Schwegels Grocery Stores and Pearl Market.

Bud is survived by five children and their spouses; Pamela & Rick Alexander of Lake Tahoe, CA, Lorrie “Pop” & Dave Tholin of Alton, Theresa “Tee” & Mark Crowson of Evansville, IN, Mike & Sarah Schwegel of Godfrey, and Monica “Baby” & Brian “Soup” Campbell of Alton; ten grandchildren and spouses, Eileen & Andy Wellington, Chris & Maggie O’Neill, Nick Laughlin, Kelley Laughlin, Nate Crowson, Sarah Crowson, Adam Schwegel, Alex Campbell, Jake Campbell and Addie Campbell; three grandchildren, A.J. and Ella Wellinghoff, Leah O’Neill and Braden Laughlin, brothers and sisters-in-law  and sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn & Terry Dooley, Barb Fallon, Tom & Jeannie Schwegel, Jim “Bodie” & Sue Schwegel, John & Margaret Schwegel, Mary ‘Mokey” & Jim “Dog” Schwegel, Ed “Butch” Carla Schwegel.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Pete “Jabo” & Maggie Schwegel.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 pm Tuesday May 28, 2013 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Wed. May 29, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.
