Carol Gutherz

Carol Sue Gutherz, nee Daubach, 75, of Millstadt, IL, born February 14, 1950, in Belleville, IL, passed away Monday, September 29, 2025, at Freeburg Care Center, Freeburg, IL, with family by her side.

Carol worked as a ward clerk and retired after 33 years from St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, IL. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Belleville, IL. Above all, Carol was a devoted family member who found no greater joy than spending time with her beloved husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John C. and Martha, nee Macke, Daubach; a brother, John “Tiny” Daubach, Jr.; and a brother-in-law, Robert D. Casey Sr.

Carol is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Robert H. Gutherz, whom she married on May 12, 1972; her son, Robert J. (Julie) Gutherz of Chesterfield, MO; her daughter, Amy (Kenn) Bueckman of Millstadt, IL; two grandchildren, Trent and Kaeli Bueckman of Millstadt, IL; a brother and two sisters, Dale (Angie) Daubach of Belleville, IL, Pamela Casey of New Athens, IL, and Debra (A.P.) Moore of Swansea, IL; and many dear nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2025, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.

Burial will be at Mount Evergreen Cemetery, Millstadt, IL.
