Carolyn Barnes

Carolyn Jean Barnes, 74, passed away at 11:34 am Sunday January 10, 2016 at home with her loving family by her side after a long battle with cancer.

She was born in Wood River on January 21, 1941 the daughter of the late LeOtis Beach and Virgie (Cummings) Longbottom.

On February 16, 1972, she married Kenneth G. Barnes in Edwardsville. He survives.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Angela Garrett of Godfrey, Paul (Karen) Carter Jr. of Godfrey and Diane Carter of Godfrey; one grandson Christopher Willis of Alton; two sisters, Glenda Kay Northcutt of Godfrey and Sherry Jo (Bobby) Riley of Wanatah, IN; one brother, Floyd (Jennifer) Longbottom of New Mexico; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Lee Barnes, and brother, Carlton Longbottom Jr.

In celebration of her life, a memorial visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday January 13, 2016 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, IL.
