Catherine Cato

Catherine "Katie" J. Cato, age 59, of Wood River, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018, at her home.

She was born April 24, 1959, in Wood River, the daughter of Simon Cato and Mary Barks. Katie had worked at many of the areas restaurants. She enjoyed playing pool. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren, her family, and her dog, Shadow.

Katie is survived by her mother, Mary Barks of Wood River; a daughter and her husband, Courtney and Robert Allen of South Carolina; five siblings and their spouses, Rick and Kimberly Cato of Wood River, Gary Cato of Wood River, Simon Mercer of Godfrey, Natalie and Kenneth Hicks of Granite City, and Jennifer and Scott Yandle of South Port, NC; two grandchildren, Riley K. Allen and Ethan Michael Allen; seven nieces and nephews, Casey and Brandy Cato, Stacey Roach, Samantha Cato, Megan Cato, David Cato, C.J. Garcia, and Maxwell McCorkle; and many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her father.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 31, 2018, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 1, 2018, at 10:00 am at Pontoon Baptist Church in Granite City with Pastor Josh Steely officiating.

Burial will take place in Upper Alton Cemetery.
