
Charles Zirges, age 90 of Worden, IL, died Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Mercy South Hospital St. Louis in Saint Louis, MO.
He was born on Tuesday, October 9, 1934, in Worden, IL, the son of George and Jennie (nee Behme) Zirges.
On Friday, July 4, 1958, he married Mary Louise Zirges (nee Straub), who passed away in 1986.
Charles was born in Worden, IL; he grew up there and graduated from Worden High School. He served with the US Army with duty in Korea as a Forward Observer. He had worked as a Pipe Fitter for Olin Brass and American Steel. As a side-line he made cabinets, built houses and was a Jack-of-all-trades. He was also a welder, electrician and plumber and loved helping other people. As a vocation, he operated a skid-loader, trencher and dump truck. He was a very "handy" man. Charles loved cats -- there were always cats in the house.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Dauderman Mortuary in Hamel, IL.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Dauderman Mortuary in Hamel, IL., with Pastor David Lindgens, New Hope Baptist Church in Worden, IL officiating.
Interment will be at Worden City Cemetery in Worden, IL.
